Sewage System Design. Complete design and layout of your septic system including detailed installation instructions. Let Rick put your sewage system permit into place and get your building construction project rolling. Problems with your site such as water table, too much rock or too little space? Rick has the knowledge of the latest technologies that will help you out. All design fees will be waived if Adams Bros performs your installation. On-Site Consulting. Adams Bros can install it for you or provide step by step guidance for do it yourself savings. Have your very own septic expert on site during the critical stage of your sewage system construction.

Existing System Re-Inspection. This inspection includes a written report on the condition of your weeping bed and septic tank. This service is useful for real estate transactions or just for peace of mind. Available with or without a septic tank pump out.

Vacant Land Assessment. Want to make sure a vacant piece of land can even fit a sewage system before you sell or buy? Rick will assess and provide a written report that will take into consideration all current regulations and stipulations.

Severance and File Review Application Completion. Need some help getting your severance or addition over the septic system hurdles? Rick will help you complete your Ontario Building Code applications and get your approval to you in a timely fashion.

Since septic tanks are more complex than holding tanks, we have created a web page devoted entirely to providing you with information as to How Septic Tanks Work and how to care for them. Below is some information for the basic care and maintenance of your septic system.

Care and Maintenance of a Septic Tank

The septic tank, whether it operates alone or in connection with a treatment system, requires an inspection at least every two years and to be pumped at least every 3‐4 years. The Ontario Building Code 8.9.3.4(1) states that “Septic tanks and other treatment units shall be cleaned whenever sludge and scum occupy 1/3 of the working capacity of the tank” This indicator identifies the need for the sludge to be removed in order to prevent suspended solids from leaving the tank and potentially causing problems further down in the treatment process.

Don't - Allow any vehicles over the tile bed area

Don't - Plant trees in locations where the root growth will adversely
effect the tile bed area.

Your septic tank is not a garbage disposal unit

Keep water use reasonable. Only use appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines that incorporate water conservation measures in their design. Use full loads only to reduce quantity of use. Ice machines that use a continual flow of water should be identified at the time of design, as they will increase the required size of the septic system. Ensure that all shower heads, toilets, and sinks and 'low‐flow' devices are not leaky! Minimize the use of spas and hot tubs as they contain large volumes of water that may flush solids out of a septic tank. Food waste disposals are not recommended for septic tanks as larger solids are deposited into the septic tank and do not deteriorate into sludge.

Keep the following items out of the septic tank:

Water softener backwash, paints, all kinds solvents, volatile organic grease, commercial and industrial coffee grounds, bones, cooking fats & oils, cigarette butts, disposable diapers, paper towels, facial tissue, sanitary pads and tampons, condoms, disposable gloves, bleach pucks, antibacterial products, detergent with dry bleach crystals, peppermint, oils, industrial cleansers, ex. Lye, film developing chemicals, floor drains- residential or industrial, palm oil, large volumes of olive oil, excessive use of hair gels, conditioners, etc. anti‐dandruff or medicated shampoo, dead pets, carpet or upholstery cleansers, expired or unused medications, disinfectants, germicides, bandages, cotton swabs.
